Lyrical Lads!

With St Valentine's Day almost upon us, we thought it would be fun to set a mini challenge in the spirit of the season.

We all know that beautiful Bodie loves a bit of poetry, so why not give him something to aspire to?

Serious or daft,  epic or haiku...we want to hear them all.   Perhaps you've always wanted to write that sonnet to Ray's backside, or a  limerick espousing your love for Bodie's eyebrows?   Maybe you're privy to a poem written from one lad to the other, and you'd like to share with us?  Or do you happen to know that Cowley has hidden lyrical depths just waiting to be revealed?   Any and all forms and subjects welcome.  If you've always wanted to post your 16-page blank verse epic to Towser's nunchucks....now's your moment to shine!

We invite you to post your Pros-inspired poetry in the comments to this post and give Bodie's bookshelf a run for its money ♥

I'll start us off (although I think you'll agree that Keats is in no danger from me....)

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Elves aren't our thing
But snark we can do!

Happy Valentines all - now that I've set the bar so low, let's see what your muses can come up with. :)

ETA - Now with added Prosetry Goodness! .....

With my profound apologies to the memory of Mr. Shakespeare

"What's in a name? that which we call a Ray
By any other name would smell as sweet."

"Stop being a stupid bugger, Bodie, and pull me out of this bloody manure."

I plead low blood sugar... yes.

Prologue to Shakespeare's lost comedy, "Two Gentlemen of CI5."

Two agents protest the indignity
In fairest London, where we lay our scene,
Of being partnered all unwillingly
So civil blood shan't make the town unclean.
But in the handsome loins of these two men,
Unwonted feelings spark into new life
And while they work for England to defend,
Their partnership becomes with tension rife.
Their firm denial of this shared desire
And slow acceptance of each other's hearts--
While flames of deadly peril loom e'er higher--
Is now our story told in several parts.
The which, if you with patient eyes will scan,
Will find they hardly knew when they began.

How dare you uncover Shakespeare's *original* manuscript and then not share it with other scholars. Bad librarian! No Biscuit!

But in the handsome loins of these two men,
Unwonted feelings spark into new life

Roses are read

Roses are red
Bodie’s eyes are blue
I’ll lean back a bit further
and hope he gets a clue.

Roses are red
Ray’s eyes are green
Now to think of a way
to get in to his jeans.

How do I shag Ray? Let me count the ways.
I shag him to the depth and breadth and height
My cock can reach, while feeling him up right
to the end of his own ideal Grace.

What did poor Elizabeth Barrett Browning ever do to us?
I shag him to the level of Raymond’s
frequent need, by day and through the night.
I shag him freely, work to get it right.
I shag him surely, as I hope for praise.

He is more lovely yet less temperate
Rough wind do shake the auburn curls of Ray,

Murder of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18

And anger doth descend upon my mate.
Sometime too hot the eye of Raymond shines,
And oft' is his gold complexion dimm'd;
But oh, when he his body fair reclines,
I chance my hand on his bright curls untrimm'd:
My long held passion for him shall not fade
Nor will possession seeds of boredom sowest.
My heart now fixed on him cannot be swayed
Delight is mine when’er his cock doth growest.
So long as Ray can breathe, lie down with me,
So let him rage; he loves where none may see.

Cheating with an old verse
My muse is buried 'neath the snow
And may not rise till Spring,
So if I may I'll offer here
A very early thing!

Le Beau Doyle Sans Merci
by The Hag (1999)

O what can ail thee, Agent B,
Alone and palely loitering?
The pubs are tightly closed and barred;
No stake-out-ing.

I met my partner at HQ,
Ex-copper, not of temper mild;
His hair was long, his feet were large,
And his green eyes wild.

I shoved him into the Capri,
And nothing else saw all day long,
For sideways would he lean and sing
A ribald song.

He bought me beer, and fish and chips,
Fine single malt, and Swiss rolls too,
And sure in language plain he said,
"I fancy you!"

He took me to his grotty flat,
And there we boozed till almost four,
And there we had it off (and on)
Till we were sore.

I dreamed pale birds and fellers too,
Pale slashers, death-pale were they all,
Who cried: "Le Beau Doyle Sans Merci
"Hath thee in thrall!"

"How can I kip!" he snarled in wrath,
"With you sleep-talkin' mangled Keats?"
He chucked me out, and here I am
In the angst-cold streets.

And that is why you find me here,
Alone and palely loiterin'.
"3.7!" That's his R/T now:
"Oi! Get back in!"

(Anticipating popular demand, I will refrain from
from working on "Le Beau Doyle Sans Murphy".)

Piercing blue eyes
Porcelain skin
The man who's heart
I dare to win

He's proud and strong
A warrior true
If I air my feelings out loud
Don't know what he'll do

A bullet could take him
Or I knife in the back
I could lose him tomorrow
But my courage, I lack

The bomb was too close
Tell him, I must
Though his answer I fear
Could turn my heart to dust

A glass of single malt
A hand on his knee
I finally say what I feel
"You are everything to me"

Not word does he say
Not a breath he takes
I'm finished for sure
My heart he will break

His hand on my cheek
A warm soft smile
He chuckles as he admits
He's been mine all the while

A kiss long and sweet
His body in my arms
Tonight is the night
I'll show him my charms

We're sated and sweaty
And holding each other
We promise our love
There will be no other

Ray’s a dashing ex-copper
Whose well-worn jeans came a-cropper
Of a fence topped with spears
Which ventilated his rear
And gave Bodie a view most improper.

Did Bodie inform him? Hell, no.
He stood there enjoying the show
‘Til Doyle, ill at ease
Felt a quite chilly breeze
That shrank more than just his ego.

*applause*

It's the last line that sells it, particularly when linked to "ego." *g*

I sincerely apologise in advance and hang my head in abject shame. This is bad. Really, and naughty too:

O my Ray's manhood is a tasty part
That’s gently sucked to life;
O my Ray's manhood is like a melodie
That my lips sweetly play as a fife.

As hard art thou, my bonnie lad,
So deep in you am I:
And I will shag thee long, my boy,
Till this supply of lube runs dry.

Till this supply runs dry, my dear,
And your love pouches give me their dew;
I will shag thee still, my dear,
Whilst another tube is bought anew.

And fare thee well, my only love,
I must yet rest my weary head!
But I will come again, my love,
Trust me, it shall surely tickle your -- bed.

(I warned you!)

I've never been good at following warnings. *g*

And your love pouches give me their dew; *dies laughing*

That's great, I can almost hear it being sung. ♥

One more for the road, eh?

Ray queried his mate with a fret,
“You’re the flightiest bloke I’ve met!
Ex-seaman, ex-merc,
Ex-Paras, you jerk
What’s next?” Bodie leered back, “Ex-het.”

That's one of my favourite ones yet. It's the "leered" that really sells it.

Thanks! ♥
